Wales is set to become the first nation in the United Kingdom to make the installation of a renewable electricity generation system mandatory on new buildings. The updated Welsh regulations do not formulate an explicit photovoltaic (PV) mandate, but require that a "renewable electricity generation system" be installed on-site. According to Solar Energy UK, rooftop solar should be adopted "in practically all circumstances" as the most practical and affordable solution to meet this requirement.
