Energy regulations

The National Strategy to protect the Environment was approved by edict no. 02-1902 of the Cabinet of the Kingdom of Bahrain on October 8, 2006. The document sets the Kingdom's vision over environmental protection and provides a framework that is being devised in a number of implementation programs and projects.<br /> <br /> In the document, the Cabinet recognises the adverse pressure of Climate Change on a number of sectors environmental aspects, including agriculture and sea level rise. It exposes a strategic vision for the management of natural resources, including a boost of technical and technological capacities, preparation of land use plans and the reinforcement of fines on polluters.<br /> <br /> The Strategy seeks to improve the efficiency of the country's transport matrix, by encouraging the use of public transport and of high capacity load vehicles, and by linking the vehicle insurance premiums and registration fees to the number of kilometres driven.
