Researchers from Nanchang University and solar module manufacturer Trina Solar have published results from a series of experiments examining the impact of ultraviolet-induced degradation (UVID) on the performance of tunnel oxide passivating contact (TOPCon) modules. Their work, published in Solar Energy, confirms that this technology exhibits "metastable resilience" under real-world operating conditions. According to lead researcher Zhiwei Li, the results establish clear understanding of the reliability of these modules for the industry and strengthen their bankability with investors.
